Home Visits

For many people with poor mobility, advancing age or significant health conditions, it may not be possible to attend our practice in Kyle. However, we are proud to provide a home visit service throughout Skye and Lochalsh so that everyone is able to receive a thorough eye examination using our new range of modern portable optometry equipment, no matter what their circumstances.*

*This service is available free of charge through the NHS to anyone that is unable to attend the practice unaccompanied due to physical or mental health issues.

For those who do not meet the criteria for a free NHS home visit, we can provide private home visits for a fee of £40.

Contact Lenses

If you are finding that glasses aren’t suitable for your everyday lifestyle, contact lenses could be beneficial for you or your children. Whether it just be for special occasions, playing sports or for every day wear, you can benefit by having the assurance of clear vision without wearing glasses.

We provide a wide range of contact lenses to suit the needs of all our patients, including daily, two-weekly and monthly lenses. We can also source soft and gas permeable lenses and for patients with more complex prescriptions we will offer astigmatism and multifocal lenses.

Our contact lens trials are £30 if you would like to give them a go. We will fit the contact lenses, teach you how to handle, insert, remove and clean them and allow you to take them home for a trial period to practise before committing to anything

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)

Our brand-new OCT machine is a specialist piece of equipment that allows us to take a series of 3D scans of your eyes, helping us to assess and understand the health of your eyes in significantly more detail than with standard equipment. This can be essential in helping diagnose potentially serious eye conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma and retinal detachments, to name but a few. We will talk you through the scans at the end of your assessment, explaining the results and answering any questions you may have. *

*The OCT is an optional test but unfortunately is not funded through your NHS eye examination and is charged at £25.

We have our own range of affordable stock frames for ladies and gents made from various plastics and metals, supplied to us by our award-winning partner lab, Waterside Laboratories. * These frames start from £35.

We have a wide range of quality branded frames made from various materials including high grade acetate plastics, stainless steel and titanium. These frames start from £110. A selection of some of our brands include; -RayBan, Emporio Armani, Guess, Swarovski, Etnia Barcelona, Flexon, Stepper, William Morris London, Charles Stone London, Longchamp.

We have a special range of ‘William Morris’ designer Sunglasses that we offer discounted prescription deals on, all year round. Please ask in store for more details.

Coloured Overlay Assessment

Visual stress is a condition that can affect how people perceive letters or words on a page or computer. People with visual stress may find letters jumbling, moving, splitting or coming in and out of focus. They may have problems tracking lines on a page or get glare symptoms or sore heads when reading. For some, the use of a coloured filter placed over the text can help to stabilise the letters and alleviate symptoms.

We can provide a detailed coloured overlay assessment for patients that might be experiencing visual stress. *

*Unfortunately, coloured overlay assessments are not funded through your NHS eye examination and are charged at £20. For more information please call or ask in practice.
